EVERY SHOE TELLS A STORY – FACEBOOK COMPETITION
Posted by dulwichmum on Sun 10 October 2010
From beautiful designer heels to battered old trainers – every shoe tells a story!
Clarks has invited me to share the story behind my favourite pair of shoes to enter their swishy new Facebook competition that launched on 7th September and runs for 6 weeks until 18 October! Judges pick their 7 favorite stories each week to win a free pair of shoes. In addition, stories can be voted on by the public, and in order to win the grand prize the story must make the top 10 finalists at the end of the competition. The judges will choose the winner of a £3000 Trailfinders Gift Card from these finalists – so make sure you enter (chirps)!
Clarks believe in the transformational power of shoes, that they can change the way you look and feel – whether it’s giving you the confidence to ace that interview, or helping you dress to impress on that nerve-wracking first date, and I couldn’t agree more!
Dear Readers, if you can bear to cast your eye below, you will find a photo of my favorite pair of shoes. Yes, indeed they are…(nods head seriously)
A few years ago, when I was on maternity leave, exhausted, vulnerable, lacking in self-confidence, a fresh pink baby in the crib and an enormous Glaswegian Nanny at large in my home, my monster-in-law made several unhelpful observations regarding my expenditure on shoes (blows nose loudly). My darling man was less than supportive (bottom lip wobbles) and asked me if 3 inch heels were appropriate attire for a busy Dulwichmum (dabs tear from eye). I promised to consider his comments carefully, and tottered off to Sloane Square.
Can you imagine the look on James’ face when he returned from work that evening to find me wearing these dishwasher proof sneakers (laughs socks off)?
Needless to say, he has never enquired regarding my clothing budget since (smirk). I just ADORE my Crocs (HA!).
The competition launched on 7th September and runs for 6 weeks – to enter simply visit this Facebook page and upload a picture of you and your shoes with a sentence or two about their story and how they make you feel. The words that sprang to mind when I purchased these was “Man Up sweetie, don’t let your mummy tell you what to think”. A word to describe them? “Hideous”, and how they make me feel? “In charge” (stomps foot)!
Submission and public voting will be open from 8th September to 18th October; the grand prize will be announced on 27th October.

Just love this article! It really made me chuckle. We have my MIL living over the park from us. My dearest knows when his mother has said a little more then I think is just – he gets it in the neck when he gets home. He is starting to realise that having a “quiet word” with Mum is far easier then living with a very angry wife:) RESULT!! What was the MIL’s reaction to the said shoes?!
