title pic Online Rescources…

Posted by dulwichmum on Thu 6 August 2009

LadyBirdIncredibly on-trend and always aware of the latest eco-trendy initiatives…(smirk), myself and the poppets skipped along to London Zoo on Monday morning to inspect the Ladybird Habitat. The darlings have been gainfully occupied using their super Little Ladybird Spotters Packs discovering and recording the different species of ladybird they found in our fabulous garden (sigh). I am so very delighted with the resources one can find online!

Apparently the indigenous 7 spot ladybird is under threat from the Harlequin species that arrived in this country just five short years ago. These foreign predator ladybirds have been savagely violating our British Ladybirds and butterflies (gasp).

The super free packs are a great source of fun on a sunny school holiday morning, assisting our tiny munchkins to spot and log the different species, encouraging them to upload details and photos of their garden safari on a dedicated website, complete a special wall chart and bake ladybird cupcakes (with the housekeeper – clearly)!

Can’t you just imagine the first Show and Tell at school in September? The other mothers will be pea green with envy (runs perfectly manicured hand through glossy locks)!

Long established children’s brand Ladybird didn’t expire when Woolworths disappeared from our high streets you know (pouts). I stocked up on top quality new pyjamas for my poppets online just last weekend.

Albena – our Bulgarian housekeeper is not happy with her current childcare duties since our last au pair escaped was dismissed. This evening as I sit here trawling the internet for my latest employee, I wish that all online selections were so easy. By all accounts, AuPairLand.com has become a very popular resource in Dulwich, with families selecting their childcare online and having it shipped directly to their door from Eastern Europe. However, some of the candidates profiles are so disagreeable that they have almost caused me to consider caring for the darlings myself (bats eyelashes):

“Dear family,

I have just returned to Poland from two days. A France family wrote super great things in email, but when I came to them I angry. I spent much moneys on the trip and I have nothing for it. I want older sister to your kids not second monthner. I am fair for you, you mst be fair for me.

Family had two kids. The mother said me that her kid has quiet to himself. HE WAS SICK, HE HAD HYPERACTIF. YOU MUST SAY TO ME THINGS LIKE THAT.

I dreamed about work as au pair because I love kids, but I WANT FAMILY WITH SMILES ON FACES.

I have hobby and am totally crazy about the digi camra. I am taking the pictures of everything that is around me, the kids and the kittens. I am crazy for the childrens and want to spend every moment being like your daughter.

I want to be loved by you, laught with you, dance with you, talk to you and love you and the animals.”

OHMYGOD!!!

I think I shall contact an agency in the morning and get myself a British nanny for September. Perhaps there are some things that a mummy can’t source on the net after all, I will not have anyone in my home that refers to my progeny as kids…

supportacinema

I work tirelessly for charity (sigh).

My wardrobe is choc full of fabulous vetements, evidence of attendance at all manner of charity ball, society auction, sporting fixture and PTA fundraiser …(checks out glossy manicure).

I am particularly benevolent when the cause is local (wipes tear from eye).

My cause de jour is the campaign to Support a Cinema for Crystal Palace. A (relatively) local purpose built 1920’s building that had been used as a bingo hall (gulp) but was closed recently (hurrah!) and sold to The Kingsway International Christian Centre – a wealthy church from East London who had been displaced due to a compulsory purchase for the Olympics (bless!).

Cityscreen who already own several super London cinemas wish to buy the building and turn it back into a super smart cinema.

Why are all of the beautiful churches being turned into loft apartments?

Why are beautiful cinemas being turned into Churches?

Why does my beautiful Nails Inc three week manicure go dull when I select my favourite chocolate brown hue?

So many questions, so little time… (stomps foot)

The church must obtain planning permission from Bromley council in order to change the use of the building and it is our duty to object…

A new cinema would be a super asset for Crystal Palace and the surrounding community providing entertainment, employment and a focal point for the locality. I am all for the regeneration of local slum areas. It can only be of benefit to Dulwich as it will provide somewhere for our au pair to socialise with other working class people and her little chums from language school.

Apparently Crystal Palace is a vibrant community and has a super ambiance – if you are into that kind of thing, the au pair adores it!

Regeneration of our neighbouring area is my primary concern – it has nothing to do with the fact that all of the traffic from East London will congest narrow local streets if this church opens.

They must not get planning permission (wail).

Please take the time to sign this online petition and join the Facebook group. With just a few clicks of your mouse, you can make a difference – I believe this is known as Sl-activisim (smirk)!
