Name of product: Little Croc’s Purse, written by Lizzie Finlay and published by Random House.
Price: £5.99 in paperback.
The blurb: “An endearing story about honesty, sharing and giving. One fine day Little Croc finds a lonely lost purse… and it’s FULL of money! Does he keep it and use the money for himself? Will he succumb to the temptation of some new shoes, a cool lemonade or the teasing of his friends? NO! Honourable Little Croc is off to find the owner. And when the owner of the purse lets him keep it and the money inside, he soon realises that being honest is its own best reward!” This book is aimed at children aged 0 – 5 years.
First impressions: This is a beautifully illustrated book with an engaging story. Very readable and enjoyable with a lovely message about honesty.
Ease of Use: My six year old is incredibly competitive with regard to reading and snobbish about the books she will read, she is keen to leave picture books behind. However, she happily ready this to a young visitor, and was proud of the fact that she managed to engage her little friend with her expression and discussion about the detail in the pictures. It genuinely brought a tear to my eye.
Pros: A simple and engaging read with plenty of room for imagination and exploration due to the detailed illustrations.
Cons: I am getting broody as my darlings have left this super illustrated story books behind.
Value for money: At £5.99, this book would easily become a firm favorite with little ones, so I think it represents very good value for money.
Stockists: Random House and all good book shops
