Bath time

Sweet Freya is a mere five years of age, and her darling burley brother only six, yet already they have grown and are no longer my babies (sniff). I have no doubt that my mother has tarnished their young lives through the introduction of the concept of shame and Roman Catholic guilt. Last night my darling girl refused to take a bath with her older brother:
“No mummy, I am a lady and should not be forced to take a bath with a boy, if he sees my pirate parts he must marry me!” the tot announced in earnest pointing to her front bottom.
I must admit – the munchkin made me smile. I have so enjoyed observing (from a safe distance) as the au pair washes my innocent tots together over the years. I would hate for anyone to consider me to be a scrooge, but it has been much more economical to bathe the poppets together; have you noticed the cost of Erbaviva bath sachets (gasp)?
I don’t know how I will manage with the few I have left, there seems to be a waiting list simply everywhere (sigh)…

Hmm. Never heard of that fancy stuff, looks good enough to cook with! Beautiful boy doesn’t bath much in the hols and there’s always the paddling pool. I do insist on a bath when he has spent a day with the local farmer’s daughter – bio-hazards and all that – the livestock – not the daughter, she’s a sweetie! x

Watch out for those sachets, don’t want to muddle them with tea bags!
My money saving plans are going awry as I just can’t squeeze all three of them into the same bath any more, can’t think why?
Cheers

I just hosed my five year old down – not letting him in the house with the mud he had all over his legs. I hope no one saw me as it probably amounted to child abuse. But then bathing a 5 and a 6 year old (not same gender) could probably get you into rather a lot of trouble these days too.

I’m pretty sure you meant ‘private’ parts and not ‘pirate’ parts – conjours up all kinds of images. My 3-year-old daughter had a screaming fit while in the bath with her brother recently. When I asked what was wrong she said “I’m scared of his willy”. So wise at such a young age . . .

Lovely Kitschen Pink,
OHMYGOD! My poppets are off to stay in the countryside avec grandparents – I must boil them in a big pot upon their return!
Perfect Maddy,
Environmental awareness and this damn credit crunch are causing mayhem…
Sweet Expatmum,
I really hadn’t realised how quickly they were growing.
Kind Tara,
No, sweet Freya said “Pirate Parts” – how sweet! Don’t our popppets say the sweetest things?

I love the thing about pirates, should I be worried that my daughter, recently 4 is more interested in her two year old brothers bits than her bath.
‘But Mummy he has a worm’ she says earnestly ‘and I don’t’ she adds after a quick check of course.

Sweet Frog,
I knew you would notice my baby’s exact words!
Lovely Maddy,
I shall be right with you…
Darling Melanie,
Just so long as she grows out of the fascination in the longer term, it can only lead to disappointment…(sigh)

talking about private parts reminds me of the time that my darling son, then about two, when asked to take his hands out from the front of his trousers shrieked loudly ‘but mummy, it keeps sticking up and i’m trying to flatten it!’ Not great at the best of times, but we were at mass and it was just before the eucharistic offering…so deathly silent. Another time, again at mass, i found him with his trousers round his knees, rubbing his bottom on the leather kneelers ‘just to see how it felt’…hmmm…what am I raising?!
