The poppets meet Paige O’Hara – the voice of Belle!
First impressions: Last weekend we attended a Gala Event at the Café de Paris to celebrate the soon to be re-released classic DVD, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast! This is the first time that the film has been seen in high definition Blu-Ray, and the first time it has been sold in 8 years. As part of the super event we witnessed a spectacular display from some stars of Strictly Come Dancing, met the lady who was the voice of Belle – Paige O’Hara and had a super girly afternoon. There were costumes to try on, the most amazing face painting, lovely food and super impressive party bags!
Ease of Use: The tiny girls were captivated! The colours and sounds so rousing and vivid, we were all immediately swept away in the tale. We have become so accustomed to the detail in more recent computer generated animations – remember now, this film is 20 years old, and so the illustrations initially appeared rather simple – but the innocent tale and tunes remain glorious
Pros: This is another must have family classic to add to your daughter’s collection! My baby girl is just eight years of age and too late we discovered that the old copy we had on loan from a friend was scratched in a crucial scene – causing much heart break, pain and sorrow (I kid you not!). At last my poor traumatized daughter believes that The Beauty and The Beast has a happy ending!
Cons: If you don’t have daughters, you will find it hard to justify this purchase
Value for money:. As usual, Disney DVDs are classics and will not disappoint. This represents great value for money as it will be enjoyed again and again. The DVD/Blu-Ray combination packs are a great idea – the DVD is ideal for long car journeys and the high definition Blu-Ray is perfect for a Saturday evening movie evening with popcorn and little girls!

During this event, my tiny daughter recognised stars from Eastenders, Holby City, Coronation Street and even Sinitta from the XFactor! I have since fired the aupair – naturally. How very embarrassing…
