Name of product: Haircut and blow dry with Bruno Lotufo at Rossano Ferretti Hairspa
Price: Haircut – £140. Blow dry from £55
The blurb: Bruno worked for many years as a hairdresser in Rio de Janeiro (where women are notorious for their luscious locks!) before moving to Europe where he discovered and studied in a totally new way to see and cut hair – Metodo Rossano Ferretti! Bruno trained in the techniques and fine tuned his practice of the “Metodo” in Belgrade and also in Parma with Lorenza Ferretti, before becoming a hairstylist at the MRF London Salon (swoon)
First impressions: I am already a fan of the minimalist clean lines, flawless finish and understated design of the new London Rosanno Ferretti salon – it is beyond perfect, I feel totally at home here! Rosanno Ferretti is renowned the place where high end, beautiful women have their hair styled from Beverly Hills to Paris and Milan. If you ever wondered where aristocrats, film stars and fashion magazine editors have their hair styled, this is it. They are far too discrete to tell me any names…
The location is central yet discrete – an upmarket doorway that leads to a luxurious hallway and opulent stairway. Customers are not displayed in the window for passers by to view – with wet hair (OMG!) doesn’t that make you cringe about most salons? I adore the design of this salon and the fact that they style hair above the ground floor. The atmosphere is calm and serene and I dont see another client while I am there – it is so private, a totally new experience
The walls are not lined with mirrors, not a single gum chewing Saturday girl in sight! This is a high end, sophisticated salon for grown up ladies – HURRAH! I just know these people are on the same page as me from the great coffee to the perfect Parmesan cheese and fine wines they offer, not to mention the great products they use on my hair including Kerastase and Shu Uemura
Ease of Use: Bruno is far too attractive to share air space with my fabulous international hair colourist Jack Howard (swoon), how incredibly distracting – two perfect men in the same building (dabs tear from eye)… HOWEVER, he was totally focused on my hair and listened attentively to my requirements before engaging in a dialogue with me and setting to work on my hair. I watched intently as he carried out his swishy “Motodo” haircut – I am terribly cynical you know – “Will this really prove to be so different?” The cut took so long, the method was actually rather complex
My hair can be rather coarse and takes an age to style with lots of high performance products to keep smoothe. I find it requires a particular skill to provide me with a cut that leaves enough weight in my hair to ensure it does not fly away, yet still, I need the volume minimised to reduce styling time
I must admit that I wanted to like Bruno’s work, he is such a lovely man, but I was anxious that the complicated layering technique he employed would leave me with incontrollable hair. Bruno explained that he works with the personality of the hair (no, really), collaborating with the way that it falls naturally, with its texture and thus enhancing its natural beauty – I kid you not, this is not just PR speak, my hair looked completely amazing when he finished.
Pros: My hair has been sculpted into a shape that is completely in harmony with its texture. My hair style is unique to me, but it is still totally on trend. The two main benefits of my cut with Bruno is that I am no longer fighting with my hair to force it into a style that it does not naturally achieve. The cut is also the most complimentary I have ever had – it frames my face perfectly
The cut is genuinely incredible – my hair is so easy to style at home now, it dries so quickly – the weight is gone but the length remains!
Cons: A cut with Bruno is not cheap, but why should it be? I can genuinely say that this is the best hair cut I have ever had. This was a genuine beauty treatment
Value for money: I think this is more youth imparting than a rhinoplasty or wrinkle relaxing injections – so it compares incredibly well price wise! Every woman deserves a haircut like this. I hate to hear friends say they are stuck in a rut with their hair, or that a trip to a stylist is an ordeal – you really must try the Motodo with Bruno
