Crane and Loads Wooden Baby Toy and Pull Along Fire Truck – Brio
By dulwichmum | Wednesday, September 8, 2010
Once again, my super chum Helena has stepped in to review products for little people! Her tiny boy is just the sweetest baby in town, I am sure you will agree!
Name of product: Crane and Loads Wooden Baby Toy and Pull Along Fire Truck – Brio
Price: £19.99 and £9.99
The blurb: “This Crane and Loads from Brio is solidly built of wood, with a flexible arm that picks up magnetic blocks. Lift and move till your heart’s content. Comes with three magnetic blocks
This Push Along Fire truck from Brio is a Classic version of the timeless favourite toddler toy. Wooden with a very nice finish”

First impressions: Oh I do love a good Brio toy (or two), tasteful, brightly coloured, sturdy and educational. Oh yes my little one loves them too!
Ease of Use: Lovely packaging with tempting photos on the outside and plastic sleeves so you can see the actual product…but then takes ages unwinding the wire attachments, where is the aupair? I may be forced to fire her you know. Baby dumpling was too excited to notice how long it was taking and how chipped my nails were by the end of it (OHMYGOD!!!)! Once out of the box, hours of entertainment for little ones – picking up the magnetic blocks, pushing the fire truck along and ringing its bell. Easy peasy!
Pros: Keeps the munchkin entertained for hours whilst I get the aupair to retouch my mani and enjoy a skinny cappuccino
Cons: If you bought anything from Brio as a gift you wouldn’t want to give it away!
Value for money:. 5/5
Dulwichmum verdict:

(these will be lifelong favorites, heirlooms in fact, and probably outlast us (wails)!)

Partridge Jewellery Tree from The Handpicked Collection
By dulwichmum | Saturday, May 8, 2010
Name of product: Partridge Jewellery Tree from The Handpicked Collection
Price: £19.95 plus £4.95 P&P
The blurb: “Pretty jewellery stands are almost impossible to find, so we were thrilled when we heard about this one. It features cute birds perching on swiveling branches to keep your baubles safe and easy to access. The base is curved to act as a useful tray for rings and other precious items.”
First impressions: This is a genuinely stylish jewelery stand (I know, I was shocked by this too), and will blend in with any interior, contemporary or traditional. It is very nice quality and not at all twee!
Ease of Use: The Handpicked Collection’s intention is to give people a trusted source of unusual and inspiring gift ideas. “There’s nothing more satisfying than seeing a present well received and it’s our mission to make that simple.” This website certainly delivers on its mission as it is choc full of inspiration!
However, it seems to be impossible to order from the site without first registering, and I have an aversion to registering on E-Commerce sites as I dispise spam
The delivery charges are not entirely clear. The site states that standard delivery takes 2 days and that there is an option for express delivery, but it takes further investigation elsewhere on the site to discover that there is an additional charge of £4.95 for standard delivery. This seems rather expensive considering the fact that so many gifts on the site cost under £15
There is a no quibble guarantee for returns within 28 days
Pros: This jewellery stand makes everything so easy to find! If you don’t have one already, you simply must buy one! This website is certainly a great place to source unusual gifts
Cons: The stand is not very tall, and as most of my necklaces are long, they dangle onto my dressing table and can easily become tangled. I wish it was about 6 inches taller. Having said that, this is by far the nicest jewellery stand I have ever found
Value for money: Bargaintastic!
