Chateau de sable

Name of product: Chateau de sable, Elegant buttons cardigan and Ballerina twirl dress.
Like their other signature ballerina twirl dress, but with round neckline to the top and a tiered, fully lined skirt. Available navy or red.
Price: £29.99 for the dress, £24.99 for the elegant buttons cardigan, plus 3.99 for standard postage and packaging.
The blurb: “Chateau de sable is an exciting and chic collection of French designed children’s wear for newborn to 12 years. It opened its first UK boutique in Chester in December 2009 and in February 2010 launched an online collection for UK customers.
The inspiration for Château de sable is the innocence and vitality of children at play and a belief that children should look like children. Styling is a unique blend of traditional and contemporary with specially selected fabrics to ensure the highest possible quality for each item. The fine attention to detail is demonstrated by the exquisite finish of each piece in the collection.
The collections are presented to allow siblings to coordinate while still embracing individual identity; a real bonus if you have twins! This also means that by choosing a few items you can have a wide and interchangeable selection of outfits. For variety we offer new designs each month and only offer a limited number of each so as to maintain their exclusivity.”
First impressions: Beautifully presented, wrapped in tissue and in a special box with a lovely colouring in book for my daughter – such a nice touch. Freya instantly loves with the crisp cotton full skirt and will not take the dress off. The detailing on the jacket is beautiful, the garments are so nicely finished and so obviously French!
Ease of Use: No awkward buttons or fasteners. Freya adores the dress and spins about in it for the afternoon. She loves the nautical look in the shops this summer, but Freya is still a little girl, and it can be so difficult to find clothes that allow her to remain a little girl.
The website was incredibly easy to navigate, with lots of co-ordinating items, choice and inspiration. There are stylish clothes for everyday wear and elegant designs for special occasions.
Pros: I could buy a dozen things on this site – there is so much to chose from, traditional everyday and occasion wear, all with contemporary touches. I usually find it particularly difficult to track down party dresses that are not too glitzy or grown up looking. I adore the fact that this label is clear about its intention to allow children the freedom to be children. Clothing of this quality makes a wonderful present for newborns and these items can be beautifully gift boxed.
Cons: The range for boys is very limited and a little boring.
Value for money: Not at all as expensive as they look. I am very impressed by the quality, finish and detail for the price.

I’m sorry but where I come from that ain’t how children look – does the poor child have an affliction? Where’s the mud? And how does she keep that blow dry hairdo when climbing trees and falling off slides? Hmm. Cute little button, fancy clothes but WHITE? For a child??? I can’t even manage white for myself for more than 6 minutes! t.x

Darling Teena,
I can assure you that Freya is not blow dried! She simply has posh hair like her mother (smirk)! This dress is for Great Aunt Flow’s 90th birthday party next week! Far more appropriate than a baby pink lurex one armed sheath dress with a silver Playboy bunny on the front, don’t you think?
I myself, always wear white jeans…
