KUKUI OIL COLLECTION

The idea for Kukui Oil products harks back to a trip we took as a family to the South Pacific. I instantly fell in love with the Hawaiian Islands – their wild and natural beauty, the warm, softly scented air and the spirit of the people. Hundreds of years ago Hawaiians learned that when the shells were removed from Kukui nuts and the kernels lightly roasted, clear oil could be pressed out that softened and soothed the skin. I went with Dad to watch the local women continuing this tradition of shelling Kukui nuts and pressing the oil from the kernels

I have sourced the Kukui Oil used in Connock London products from a small factory on the Hawaiian island of Oahu. The owners of this factory are close family friends and I have visited them many times over the years. I have witnessed the whole production process from the nuts being harvested from the Hawaiian mountains to the oil being pressed, refined and packaged

First impressions: Just like the Connock Hydrating Body Lotion, which I just adore, this soothing bath oil comes in a stunning decanter with a cork seal top and has the usual delicate Hawaiian-inspired floral motif on the front. It is beautifully presented and so refreshing to have something made of glass!

Ease of Use: Just pour into running hot water and step longingly into another world of tranquillity and peace… far away from shouting kids, a psychotic housekeeper, sulky aupair and barking dog! Bliss I’m in heaven

Pros: This is a great bath oil and a wonderful rescue remedy for dry, sensitive and irritated skin. The mixture of macadamia, tamanu and kukui nut oils go together to produce a luxurious pampering bath. The oil is not greasy and let no reside all over the bath once I had finished and as stated on the web site, once the oil makes contact with the water it turns into a cloudy milky bath filing the bathroom with a superb aroma. I patted my skin dry rather than rubbed which seemed to lock in more moisturizer. Further more the oil didn’t cause over heating at night in bed. I even think it has helped my poor cracked heels

Cons: The price. It’s a tad expensive and I can see that it’s very easy to use up quite quickly since the temptation is to just pour it in! I must be more controlled, I must be more controlled…I must be….
For me it would be more of a luxury item that I would pop down on my Xmas list or as a birthday present rather than an everyday purchase. It would make a fabulous gift, particularly for anyone who is difficult to buy for – like my monster in law who suffers from a dry irritable ~~temprament~~ skin

Value for money:. Good value for money for a gift or luxury purchase
