Estee Lauder, Michael Kors, Very Hollywood collection
Posted by dulwichmum on Fri 15 January 2010
Name of product: Estee Lauder Michael Kors Very Hollywood Color Collection
Price: From £12 for nail lacquer, to £23 for blush.
The blurb: ”This Spring, Estee Lauder introduce Estee lauder Michael Kors Very Hollywood Color Collection, a group of limited edition products that reflect both the timeless beauty philosophy of Estee Lauder and the luxurious, modern fashion style of Michael Kors.
“Nobody understands modern glamour and luxury like Aerin Lauder and the Estee Lauder brand, which is what this collection is all about” says Michael Kors.
Michael’s design perspective has defined modern American glamour. It is no surprise his presence pervades the modern Hollywood scene – whether he’s dressing celebrities for a red carpet event or attending award shows himself, Michael Kors is a name synonymous with Hollywood.
The collection features two modern classic looks:
Bel Air Beige showcases a classic Michael Kors beige and coral palette of shimmery peach lips and cheeks and a smokey eye.
Rodeo Pink spotlights new shades in vibrant raspberry tones of bright, bold lips and cheeks and a defined eye.
Both colour palettes contain the essentials needed to achieve the Very Hollywood look of your choice and feature coordinating shades of blues, eyeshadow due, eye pencil, lip sheen SPF 15, Lip gloss and Nail Lacquer.”
First impressions: When I heard that Estee Lauder were teaming up with ultra luxurious, glamorous designer Michael Kors, I was more than delighted. No-one knows more about upmarket and gloss than these two brands (and me of course)!
The packaging is luxurious as one would expect from Estee Lauder, but with a glamorous beige Michael Kors limited edition twist. The products themselves are slightly shimmery, with tiny sparkles, something I usually shy away from since I reached my mid thirties.
I update my make-up colours and products regularly and have a complete make-over every January, but I am becoming rather tired with the subdued palette proffered for women my age at the make-up counters in Peter Jones. I want something a less dull than the usual muted Bobby Brown hues, but I don’t want to look like Pat Butcher either… There seems to be an ever widening gulf developing between mid-thirties allure and mid-fifties style. I fear that our generation are now invisible to so many companies.
Ease of Use: I cannot say enough in favour of the short film tutorials on make-up application on the Estee Lauder web-site. The products do not shimmer too much at all. These products are perfectly suited to women of my age. I can’t tell you what a relief that is. Just because I am forty, it does not mean that I am no longer interested in looking desirable, fashionable or glamorous.
Pros: These products are exactly as described, all about modern glamour and luxury. The eyeshadows in particular are sympathetic to my skin (don’t accentuate any fine lines around the eyes), the colours are terrific, I have completely updated my look. I love to look glossy, on trend, fresh and well groomed. The lip gloss tastes terrific and all of the products are long lasting.
Cons: I have the entire Bel Air beige collection and I now need to purchase the Rodeo Pink too. It is not cheap…
I wish this was not a limited edition as I will be lost when this range disappears from the beauty counters (stomps foot).
Value for money: 5/5
