First impressions: My children adored the original book by Roald Dahl and were so looking forward to the film, expectations were high. I was curious to see the film, particularly as I thought that the characters all looked a little like something that my Monster-in-law would have commissioned from a taxidermist. However, the voice of George Clooney, the witty script and cleverly intertwined adult humour meant that this entire film worked so very well. The children loved it will watch it again and again, even my husband laughed his socks off. My tiny seven year old daughter Freya, particularly enjoyed discussing and analysing the characters, Kristofferson and Ash. Is it just me, or are girls a little more perceptive at times than boys?

Ease of Use: Easy peasy. I even managed to load the digital copy onto my MP3 player all by myself and my daughter has enjoyed watching it again and again in this format.

Pros: This was not the typical animation. The use of puppets was really clever and I would listen to George Clooney’s velvet voice all day. This is most definitely a film that the entire family will enjoy together. Hilarious, clever, thought provoking. The bonus features include a digital copy of the film and a cool game!

Cons: This film is most definitely a hit with my family. No cons at all.
