Liberty!

The gates of my poppets’ prestigious independent schools, at last, had their gates wrestled open this morning (sigh) and welcomed our darling progeny inside (Hurrah!). Weary mothers exchanged tales of bravery, endurance and impending alcoholic liver disease at drop off.
Lets have a collective “shoulders down” moment?
Jocasta commented that I looked conspicuously refreshed (smirk); “Well sweetie, as a working mother, I am forced to delegate and prioritise – clearly!”
“I couldnt do it”, she hissed bitterly. “It seems so wrong to give birth and then sprint back to work, leaving all of the nurturing to paid minions. Do you have a nanny cam? I imagine that you sit at your desk every day and scrutanise the scene, thinking you are clever?”
“What an outrageous and ill informed suggestion!” I snapped, noticing that she had her skirt tucked into her knickers and only only one side of her hair brushed…
Why would I sprint from my perfectly proportioned, luxury home each morning only to observe from a distance as the poppets swing from the Osborne and Little Curtains, leap from the Kelly Hoppen all-feather sofa and torture the cockapoo – when I can simply look the other way and fire the aupair if the house is not back in perfect spick and span order by the time I return from the sanctuary that is my full time employment each evening?
Honestly!

It’s very charitable of you to be seen talking to a woman with only half her hair brushed. I hope she knows what a sacrifice you made

People are so opinionated aren’t they – working mothers or non working mothers its still a fulltime job

Nannycam, what a hideous idea, would make me have to face just how much better she is at it than me.

Perfect What Did She Say?
I really should have ignored her, shouldn’t I? Honestly sweetie, I am far too charitable sometimes!
Lovely Naomi,
It is terrifying at the school gates (clutches chest)…
Sweet Knackared Mother,
Now you I can relate to!
