Cult beauty products at House of Fraser Apothecary

Don’t you just absolutely adore online shopping? Just one click of a perfectly glossy manicure and the most delightful goodies are instantly winging their way to you. For those who say they prefer to see things themselves, that is fine if you have the time, sweeties, but my full-to-bursting high end professional and personal lifestyles so often prevent me from doing this. I could send Albina, of course, but even after all these years she’s more likely to pick up something that smells like a swamp by the kilogram in the mistaken belief that it is for my own good. And I usually have to fire my au pairs before they can be fully trained, of course. Which is where House of Fraser’s Apothecary meets my needs in the most divine way.

The Apothecary at House of Fraser is a place where I can pick up so many of my favourite beauty essentials at the touch of a button. They stock some of the most on exclusive trend cult, global and niche skincare and beauty lines. Delivery is free if one spends over £50 like me.

Those lovely Apothecary people have sent me some products to try out. The things I do for your benefit (sigh)!

Name of product: Lip Delight – Baume pour les levres by Mor

Price: £10.50 for a 10g pot

The blurb: “Sweet delight adds lustre and the sheerest of sheens. Packed full of moisture in a collectible kaleidoscope of colours”

First impressions: This confused me but I think what they mean is that the pots come in an array of collectible colours. I received Cassis Noir, which I expected to be a blackcurrant colour, but surprise, surprise, it was colourless when I opened the Belle Epoque designed tin. Does that mean it would magically transform into a blue black hue as it reached my lips? No! But it does have a subtle blackcurrant smell and is less cloying and greasy than comparable lip balms

Ease of Use: Mor balm does soften and protect lips from the environment but this is on a temporary basis for an hour two. The balm is thinner and less greasy in consistency than, say, Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream, and probably not intended for use as an overnight lip treatment, more for regular conspicuous application at the school gate or coffee bar

Pros: Clearly the pretty presentation pot is a benefit in ones handbag and there is no chapstick-like cap to come loose leaving smears of grease over the interior lining

Cons: There are no minus points really, other than that this is larger and therefore less portable than stick balm

Value for money:. If you are in search of something different and pretty, an alternative lip balm with a super taste, I think this represents good value for money

Dulwichmum verdict: ★★★☆☆

Stockists: Mor balm is available in five exotic fruity flavours from House of Fraser Apothecary
