Name of product: Nutritive Cleanser – Perricone MD Cosmeceuticals
Price: £34 for 177ml/ 6 fl oz bottle
The blurb: “This cleanser is scientifically formulated to help treat deep lines, wrinkles, sagging skin, loss of elasticity and sun damage. It gently washes away impurities while delivering anti-ageing benefits.
This cleanser washes away impurities without stripping skin of natural oils. It is formulated to reveal a brighter and smoother skin surface, leaving it looking radiant and perfectly prepared for treatment.
DMAE helps to firm and lift the appearance of skin. Alpha Lipoic Acid reduces the presence of lines, wrinkles and enlarged pores
Gently massage onto damp skin morning and night. Rinse with warm water”
First impressions: This colourless gel cleanser is thicker in consistency than my usual cleansing gel but was still simple to pump a small amount out of its bottle. It has the fragrance of roses in old fashioned ladies’ perfume
Ease of Use: The cleanser is for use morning and evening. On first use, I found my skin felt clean but slightly tighter than usual and this effect lasted noticeably until I applied moisturiser. On the second evening, I mixed it with my normal Dermologica exfoliant. The result made my face glow clean and clear but perhaps this particular cleanser is meant for people, ahem, not yet quite in their prime, as I thought the tightening of my skin was slightly uncomfortable. No doubt one would quickly become accustomed to this effect. Other cleansers are available in the range that markets itself as ‘cosmeceuticals.’
Personally, I am wary of scientific claims made by cosmetics companies and I really cannot see how a cleansing product that stays on the skin for a minute at most before being washed away can have any effect on wrinkles or sagging skin. I will, however, update this review after 6 weeks and comment on any reduction in the size of my pores
Pros: Pleasant to use. Well presented with a pharmaceutical-looking bottle that blends well with bathroom decor. Smells lovely. Pump dispenser keeps the product clean. Undoubtedly cleans well
Cons: Causes slight tightening of skin, easily remedied by subsequent application of moisturiser
Value for money:. I would be happy to buy this product, I feel it represents good value for money
