The blurb: “…the next generation of colour with high-impact glosses that drench lips in enviably chic shades. Lasting opaque, high shine and maximum moisture combined with vibrant colour set the stage for a modern, sensual look. A special collaboration of six fashion-forward shades by EL Creative Makeup Director Tom Pecheux folds into the irresistible collection of bold, juicy hues and subdued neutrals, redefining colour for lips. Experience a collection of rich attitude and saturated colour”
First impressions: The gloss comes in a clear, square, plastic tube with the perfect luxurious lid in gold. I really liked the etched EL in script on the gold top – it recognisably Estee Lauder, perfect for the powder room! The colours appear intense in the tube, but when applied are very light and high gloss. They did not have a metallic or chemical taste (always a plus for the kissable pout) and a hint of vanilla scent. Now I have a blindingly obvious way to distinguishing my daughter’s bubble gum scented gloss from mine (NOTE TO SELF: no need to fire the au pair)
Ease of Use: As far as the applicator is concerned, these are similar to other good lip-gloss – a sponge-tipped wand applicator, my favourite. I hate the brush applicators and also those glosses with the roller ball. It is fairly straightforward to use, easy to apply and the high shine is instantaneous. It is long lasting, without feeling too sticky or thick
Pros: These glosses are very high shine and only one application is necessary to get a great lustre (get out the sun-glasses, darling). They feel lovely and moist and the shades work with just about everything in my wardrobe (however extensive it may be!). They are subtle and elegant – just the thing for that natural beauty appearance (no matter how unnatural it really is!)
Cons: The colours, although appearing intense in the tube are very lightweight, not the “bold” hue I had expected – “opaque” is more the correct term. This is not so much a “con” as a caveat – the colour you see in the tube is more intense than what goes on your lips, and for day wear, opaque and subtle work for me
Value for money:. : I think that these glosses are worth every penny if you are looking for a moisture-rich gloss with subtle colour. If you are looking for hot pink colour and a bubble-gum flavour, try my daughter’s instead!
