Elnett Satin Hairspray Limited Edition (Cheryl Cole) – L’Oreal
By dulwichmum | Thursday, September 2, 2010
Name of product: Elnett Satin Hairspray Limited Edition (Cheryl Cole) – L’Oreal
Price: £3.49 for 200ml
The blurb: “The most beautiful hairstyles deserve to shine like Cheryl! NEW Elnett Cheryl Limited Edition Diamond Hold hairspray offers your hairstyle an ultimate, long-lasting hold with smooth, diamond shine and is still soft to touch. Its unique micro-diffused spray is ultra fine and disappears at the stroke of a brush, leaving hair feeling soft and shiny. Protects your style with perfect long-lasting hold”
First impressions: My first impression when confronted with this hairspray was: Elnett have at last evolved and although they have stuck to the shape, size and spray nozzle that I remember experimenting with on my Grandmothers dressing table. The limited addition pink spray with the black nozzle and detai,l certainly looks a little different to their range of products and harks back to the classic gold with a white nozzle that has adorned many a lady’s dressing table over the generations. I must admit that the association with Cheryl Cole,“The hair extension queen”, does not impart any qudos here… I wouldn’t believe a word she says about any product
Ease of Use: Simple! Just spray from 30cms away in short bursts and the spray is effective and easy to direct
Pros: This hairspray really does provide strong hold without leaving hair sticky and heavy. It leaves hair smooth and is very easily brushed through when you have finished with your up-do at the end of a day packed with career, shopping and being a momshell (smirk)
Cons: The main con to this effective and reasonably priced hairspray for me is the smell. No matter how effective the hairspray, it will always have an association with the bridge playing Blue Rinse Brigade for me
Value for money:. This hairspray is great value for money and remains one of the most reasonably priced and effective products of its kind on the market, I just wish they could transform the fragrance and ditch Cheryl while they are at it

purely due to the smell
Stockists: Available to view range at l’oreal-paris.co.uk and to buy at Superdrug.

Collagen Micro-Vibration Eye – L’Oreal
By dulwichmum | Wednesday, September 1, 2010
Name of product: Collagen Micro-Vibration Eye by L’Oreal
Price: £16.99 (Although currently on offer at Boots stores for £11.99) for 15 mls
The blurb: L’Oreal market this as a two step solution for reducing under-eye bags, dark circles and wrinkles – the signs of ageing around the eye.
“Our new era in vibrating eye care. Discover the latest revolution, Collagen Micro-Vibration Eye”
The two step eye treatment comprises of an anti-dark circle and anti-wrinkle cream which helps to reduce the appearance of dark circles followed by a vibrating massage to reduce under-eye bags by increasing drainage”
First impressions: The only way to describe the box and packaging is hectic. The box provides information on the application of the product, and is verging on information overload. Inside the box, the cream and vibrating dome are in one easy to use tube. The tube itself looks inexpensive as is made of plastic with a metallic vibrating dome
Ease of Use: : The instructions explain the several stages of application very clearly.
First gently smooth a pea-sized amount of the cream from the inner corner of the eye to the outer corner. The cream can be used on both the lid and the under-eye area. Then, hold the vibrating massager like a pen against the skin’s surface under the eye. Hold it at each point for 2-3 seconds. Do not use the massager on the eye lid. Finally glide the vibrating massager under the eye area from the inner corner of the eye to the outer corner. The instructions are clear and concise and the product is easy to use.
Although simple to apply, the cream is rich and is not absorbed into the skin immediately which means that even after the allocated 20 – 30 seconds of massage time the cream is not fully absorbed. Using smaller amounts of cream helped me to speed up the process and allow makeup to be used shortly after use (I never leave the house without gilding the lily!)
Pros: I used this product for a month and the pros are that the moisturiser is rich and leaves the skin feeling smooth and hydrated. The massage is relaxing and made me dedicate a few more minutes to my eye care than before
Cons: The main cons are that the eye cream does take time to be absorbed and does not leave a particularly good surface for makeup application and the vibrating massager vibrates at a very low resonance. It does not really provide too much more than a gentle buzz. This product appears to have similar properties to a vibrating mascara as I am not sure what value is added through the vibrations. The cream is effective but the vibrations feel like little more than a gimmick
Value for money:. As a high street eye cream, this product is relatively good value for money
Dulwichmum verdict:

I am not convinced that this product has the ability to remedy eye-bags or encourage “drainage” any more than a quick massage with the fingertip
Stockists: Available to view range at l’Oreal-paris.co.uk and to purchase at Boots and many high street stores
