Name of product: Santa Buddies – the legend of Santa , Blu-ray and DVD combination pack by Disney

Price: The combination set of DVD and Blu-ray costs £23.99

The blurb: “Disney’s irresistible talking puppies return in a heartwarming holiday adventure! Take a fantastic journey with your beloved Buddies to the magical world of the North Pole?

Join Budderball, B-Dawg, Rosebud, Buddha and Mudbud in a touching twist on a Christmas classic. When Puppy Paws, the feisty son of Santa Paws, forgets the true meaning of the season, it’s up to the Buddies to remind him that Christmas is not about what you get, it’s about what you give. Unleash a stocking full of Christmas cheer for you and your family with this fun-filled film, featuring never-before-seen bonus materials. It’s sure to be a holiday classic for years to come!”

First impressions: Slick holiday animation type feature, typical of Disney.

Ease of Use: This combination set was ideal for my family. We have a Blu-ray player at our home (clearly), but a DVD player in the car. The children adored this film so much that they watched it initially in the house, and then for day after day in the car.

Pros: My darling son is eight years old, and he is starting to become rather cynical about the reality of Santa (gasp). His baby sister (6) is actually at the route cause, I heard her in action (OHMYGOD!). I lamenting that we had celebrated the last Christmas where our poppets listen our for sleigh bells, but this film has re-cast the spell! My husband and I are so relived (wipes tear from eye). Yes the tale is quite slushy, and, for us grown ups, the story can seem clichéd and quite hard to buy into initially, but actually, this film is perfect holiday material, particularly for young children and children of a certain age who need re-convincing. This is for certain, a future holiday classic.
The DVD is ideal for those taking long car journeys with little ones over the Christmas period.

Cons: If you don’t have a dog, your children will want one.

Value for money: This combination pack was perfect for us, and not as expensive as a family trip to the cinema. The disk can be purchased separately in either format much more cheaply. I always consider Disney children’s films really good value.
