I swear that when I first saw this photo of Lindsay Lohan I immediately knew there was a perfectly reasonable explanation for it… It happens to me every Spring when my mother sneaks into my home, damp dusts the inside of every boot, sling back, heel and sneaker in the house with alcohol wipes and sifts anti-fungal foot powder into every crevice. She is obsessed with the avoidance of fungal infections, corns and mangled feet. If she had her way, I would own some flat shoes – no really!

Hilariously, Brenda thinks that the Pedi-Egg (which she could not survive without) is manufactured by JLS! This Spring, I trotted off to the podiatrist with her simply to show off! The poor man could not find a thing to do – clearly (smirk). In the end I ordered him to paint my nails – well I was paying him afterall…

I love to look after my perfect feet, and have regular pedicures – naturellement, however, when I returned from Portugal earlier this Summer, I found that the skin on the heels and souls of my feet were uncomfortably dry – OHMYGOD! The PR for Scholl contacted me, as if telepathic, and so I agreed to review some of their wares.

Name of product: Scholl Cracked Heel repair cream, Active repair K+

Price: £5.99 for 60 mls

The blurb: Scholl Cracked Heel Repair Cream K+ is clinically proven to repair rough, dry and cracked skin. Fast acting, it works in 7 days. Visible results in 3 days. Reduces discomfort. Helps prevent infection. Dermatalogically tested, fragrance free andhypoallergenic. Suitable for diabetics and sensitive skin

First impressions: This is a thick, rich white cream, surely it can’t be as effective as they claim?

Ease of Use: Simply apply twice daily to clean dry skin. Once the skin is restored, continue to use as necessary, to maintain condition

Pros: Can I firstly point out that I am renowned for my perfectly soft and smooth skin, my heels were not cracked but the skin on my feet was uncharacteristically dry – the heat of The Algarve, walking on hot sand and swimming daily, it takes its toll (sigh) . Don’t even begin to think for a minute that I am less than perfect. However, I must admit that this cream had a dramatic effect. It soaked in instantly and left a nice moisturising residue which left my feet instantly soft and silky. Any fear that I may have entertained that I would have ended up a slave to the pedi-egg were instantly expelled. Within 3 days, the parched skin on my feet was silkey smooth. I never had cracked heel and I never will have! Seven days later and my feet are softer than ever before!

Cons: None at all. This cream works, it is dramatic, but I must admit that my heels were not actually cracked. Simples!

Value for money:. Excellent

Dulwichmum verdict: ★★★★★

Stockists: Boots and all good chemists.
