title pic Stand by your man…

Posted by dulwichmum on Mon 12 January 2009

Last week, I was contacted by a journalist who claimed to be researching a piece on City wives and how they are casting their previously powerful Master of the Universe husbands on the scrapheap, now that the iceberg has struck. I would like to announce that despite the wild claims in the tabloid press, the services of Fiona Shackleton will not be required in this part of SE21. I adore my darling man, and will continue to worship him, despite our current financial difficulties (sniff).

Yes, James may be feeling a little bruised, his team depleted and bonus non-existent, but his troop at home is still cheering him on. At least I have my memories (sob).

So yes, the new year jaunt to Sandy Lane has been canceled, and it looks as though we will not be skiing this spring half term, there are so many reasons why we will not be holidaying abroad this coming year, but we have so much to be grateful for (sigh). I cannot claim that we will not feel pain, in fact, I personally went shopping to Morrisons in Peckham at the weekend and was shocked to find so many of my school gate compatriots had done the same (OHMYGOD!!!). I spied my best friend Vashi darting behind a display of Hovis Best of Both bread, in an effort to conceal herself, and calmly informed there that there is safety in numbers. We shall embark from Dulwich to shop in a convoy from now on.

Did you know that it is possible to purchase four wigs for just ten pounds in Rye Lane? Despite my “Stand by your man” mantra, I shall not be purchasing a Dolly wig any time soon. I think that next week we shall try Tesco in Beckenham, Peckham is not for everyone…
