Name of product: Not Your Daughter’s Jeans

Price: £99

The blurb: “Tummy Tuck Jeans by Not Your Daughter’s Jeans are manufactured with denim containing 4% lycra, instead of the usual 2%, and this difference gives a more comfortable and softer stretch denim. The second secret of these jeans is their “patented” crisscross weaving on the inside helping to flatten the tummy, profile the hips and give a slimmer and more shapely figure.”

First impressions: These jeans are incredibly soft denim and a beautiful dark trendy shade, even the stitching is a super fabulous colour. I imagined frightfully hick hues and nasty and excessively high waisted cuts (I am a complete J brand and James Jeans fanatic), so I must admit that I am pleasantly surprised. Several of my chums have raved about the figure enhancing qualities of these jeans, but as a woman with a perfect bod, I have never felt the need to purchase “shape wear”…

It can be a little difficult (I hear) to get back in shape after junior is born, and these jeans have cult status in Dulwich.

Ease of Use: They slip on like a glove and are so very comfortable indeed. My tummy looks super flat and my bottom looks pert as can be (what’s new?), genuinely though, they are seriously figure enhancing.

I can see why these jeans have a name as being “the jeans that give you your figure back”…

Pros: I shall never, ever admit to concerns regarding developing a muffin top or saggy bottom, but these jeans lift and separate in all the right places. They look just terrific under those vile smocky dress thingies that are so on trend (adding no bulk) and the label is appropriately discreet (smirk).

Cons: I don’t like the name…

Value for money: They are not cheap, but they are really not that expensive either… Certainly not as expensive as my usual brands!

Dulwichmum verdict: ★★★★☆
Why can’t they change the name? My daughter is six, obviously I do wear her jeans (frown)…

Stockists: The Dulwich Trader (naturellement), John Lewis, and online at Not Your Daughters’ Jeans.com
